KONDIMEN ART Exhibition is the mind-blowing awesomeness by Eko Codit & Alfin Agnuba. They tell about the philosophy of traditional food and criticize how the commodity chain concept in the politics of food.
Eko ‘Codit’ is an Indonesian Asian Modern & Contemporary artist who lives in Yogyakarta. Codit’s works showed in some group or solo exhibitions in Indonesia. Throughout his collages, Codit depicts a ‘pop’ contemporary art, full of glamour, with a touch of revolt. His art reveals ‘cool’ global and local funky ‘Pop Icons’ and ‘Stereo-Types’. Moreover, Alfin Agnuba is the graphic artworks that graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta. He has created various artworks with some techniques such as poking, screen-printing, stencil, etching aquatint and also mixed media performance. The final presentation is not always about the visual but the process and also the narrative behind the artworks.
In ‘Kondimen” art exhibition, Codit created a painting “Luwit Fitom” (in 2017) as a puns of Motif Tiwul (in Javanese language) means the ornament of Tiwul as a traditional food in Java. But the pronunciation is similar to Louis Vuitton fashion brand. So he’d like to criticize on visual representation of the traditional culture of food towards to modern culture. Then Alfin tried to highlight how the politics of food, the entire ecosystem of food and how we respond to this situation as a human. For example, “Chilibration” painting that visualized as a celebration for specific community or group while the price of chili was going high in Ramadhan season. It also happened when we got the pandemic COVID-19 in early March, some of groceries was going high such as onion and chili. So, the concept of his artworks on 2017 still relate until now.
